Who will win the 2010 ANZ Championship - Part 3
January 5th 2010 09:37
After getting my best friend into netball, he has now decided to back West Coast Fever. Despite the team improving since the start of the ANZ Championship, I still believe they have a long way to go before they can win a championship title.
Like all teams in the ANZ Championship, there have been changes to the team line-up with Jasmine Keene leaving the Fever to join the Adelaide Thunderbirds this year.
The WA team have been able to recruit four new players, most notably is Janelle Lawson who played for the Firebirds since the championship started in 2008.
Other new members include Leah Shoard (Swifts 2008, Steel 2009) and new players to the competition Ashleigh Neal and Sarah Ebbott.
One thing on Fever's side is the number of former Melbourne players, Shae Bolton, Madison Browne and Johannah Curran. Melbourne and Sydney have for years been on top of the netball competitions.
For Fever to have any chance of winning the ANZ Championship, they will need to find an accurate shooter that can combine well with Caitlin Bassett and Bassett herself needs to toughen up to be able compete against the world's best defenders.
