Round 9 Result: Swifts remain undefeated
May 18th 2010 13:20
The NSW Swifts, who were close to the bottom of the ladder last year, still remains unbeaten in the 2010 ANZ Championship season, beating the Queensland Firebirds 44-40 last night in Sydney.
The Swifts took an early five-goal lead and although the Firebirds kept coming back, the Sydney side maintained control right throughout the game.
Defenders Rebecca Bulley and Sonia Mkoloma proved vital in the Swifts' win, with Mkoloma playing on despite dislocating a finger during an impressive intercept.
Once again it was great to have Australian Netball Diamonds captain and Melbourne Vixens co-captain Sharelle McMahon commentating the match along with another netball legend Liz Ellis.
