Round 9 Result: Surprise game of the round
May 18th 2010 13:10
The Northern Mystics vs Central Pulse game proved to be the unexpected game of the round with the winless Pulse forcing Mystics to go into extra time with the final result Mystics 61 Pulse 60.
This could arguably be the game of the season with an impressive display from a team that only weeks ago was the talk of the competition for being a team not deserving of a spot in the ANZ Championship.
The Pulse came so close to their first win of the season and second win since the start of the ANZ Championship in 2008.
Both teams gave away heaps of turnover ball resulting in a thriller.
The Pulse looked the better team but were unable to capitalise and take the win at vital moments in the game.
The Mystics were lucky to leave with the win and their finals hopes alive, leaving the winless Pulse absolutely devastated they let the game slip past them.
Cathrine Latu had a 100 per cent accuracy rate for the Mystics, shooting 41 goals from 41 attempts.
The extra time caused One HD to cut the broadcast short with viewers unable to hear the after-match interviews or who the player of the match was.
