Round 9 Preview: Thunderbirds vs Vixens
May 16th 2010 00:23
The 2009 grand final rematch between the Adelaide Thunderbirds and the Melbourne Vixens today will be a totally different game in that both teams are struggling this season.
The Vixens started really well this season winning five from five but then hit a mid-season slump, losing three games in a row, the first time in their ANZ Championship history.
The Thunderbirds, on the other hand, had a really slow start to the season adn then started a good winning streak until getting flogged by the undefeated NSW Swifts last weekend.
Both teams will be hoping to get their season on track with a win today.
The Vixens are still expected to be without their centre Natasha Chokljat and news this week has revealed that goal defence Julie Corletto is to undergo immediate knee surgery and will also be unable to play for up to six weeks.
With two of their main players out, will the Vixens be able to defeat the Thunderbirds.
The Vixens are two points ahead of the Thunderbirds on the ladder and the Adelaide team had a bigger losing margin to the Swifts than the Melbourne side.
It should be a close game and hopefully, my favourite team, the Vixens will be able to take the much-needed win before their bye next weekend.
