Round 8 Result: Magic lucky to win
May 9th 2010 03:55
New Zealand's top team, the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic, were lucky to win yesterday against the winless Central Pulse team.
The Pulse kept with the Magic for the whole first half, only being down three goals at the main break.
This surprised most people as the Magic are in second place on the ladder and the Pulse once again at the bottom.
During the first half, the Magic lost midcourter Peta Scholz, who could be out for weeks or possibly the season with a knee injury.
The Magic showed some of their capabilities in the third quarter, restricting the Pulse to just six goals, with the score at 44-31 at the last break.
Yet the Pulse still kept firing and actually beat the top New Zealand team in the last quarter but it wasn't enough to catch up to the large margin at three-quarter time.
The final score was 56-44. It was the Pulse's best performance all season.
