Round 7 Preview: Clash of the Premiers
May 1st 2010 11:55
Only one more sleep until the much anticipated Clash of the Premiers at Acer Arena in Sydney tomorrow.
The NSW Swifts will be coming off a bye and will be hoping to keep their unbeaten record in tact.
After a disappointing 21-goal loss to the Queensland Firebirds last Sunday, the Melbourne Vixens will be out to redeem themselves. The Firebirds surprisingly put a stop to the Vixens 11-game winning streak.
The Vixens will still be without centre Natasha Chokljat, which made a huge difference last week.
However, the Melbourne side have top players Sharelle McMahon, Julie Corletto, Renae Hallinan and Bianca Chatfield who are real game breakers.
They will be a determined outfit to keep their back-to-back premiership hopes alive tomorrow.
Swifts shooter Catherine Cox has had an up-and-down season once again this year and needs to be accurate if Swifts are to beat the mighty Vixens.
The Melbourne team will need to watch Sonia Mkoloma, Susan Pratley and Kimberlee Green to win this match.
The scene is set for a real nail-biting game, which I think (and hope) the Vixens will win.
Hopefully, it won't be a blowout like we've seen in other recent ANZ Championship matches. There's nothing better than sitting on the edge of your seat or standing and yelling for your team to get over the line in a close match.
