Round 5 Result: Swifts continue their unbeaten record
April 18th 2010 13:05
The NSW Swifts continue their unbeaten record in round five action against the young West Coast Fever today.
In the first game held in Newcastle since 2008, the Swifts were dominant during the entire match.
The Fever just had no answers to the Swifts' brilliant defence.
Key target Caitlin Bassett was starved off possession with the Fever feeders unable to penetrate into the circle.
Bassett was restricted to just 33 goals, way down from her average of 50 goals against the Swifts.
Goal attack Leah Shoad was impressive in her shooting, nailing some long range bombs, but still this wasn't enough to get the Fever in front of the improving NSW side.
To make matters worse for the Fever, Shae Bolton and Josephine Janz were forced from the court with injury, with speculation that Janz's knee injury could be season-ending.
Swifts shooter Catherine Cox still struggle to nail her shots with a 71 per cent accuracy rate, but this was better than in some previous matches.
The final score was 55-43.
