Round 3 Result: Steel's first half sets up a decisive win against Pulse
April 5th 2010 10:09
The Southern Steel's impressive first half led to the team beating the Central Pulse 56-44 tonight despite the Pulse winning the second half.
Lack of ball in the shooting circle for the Pulse was the deciding factor in the game. In the first half, Pulse only had 20 attempts at goal compared to the Steel's 42 attempts.
The second half of the match was like a different game of netball with Pulse coming up with turnovers, captain Jane Altschwager having more of an impact on the game, ultimately resulting in Pulse winning the half 27-22. Some errors crept into the Steel's game during the second half.
Interestingly, Steel scored the same amount of goals that NSW Swifts did in their extra time match against the Canterbury Tactix this weekend.
Pulse remains winless and at the bottom of the ladder, with NSW Swifts their next opponent. Swifts is the only team that the Pulse have beaten since the ANZ Championship's inception but that was in last season when Swifts were not playing in the form that they are now.
