Round 3 Result: Big win for McMahon's 200th game
April 5th 2010 12:54
The Melbourne Vixens celebrated co-captain Sharelle McMahon's 200th game in style with a big win over the West Coast Fever, 64-50, in Perth tonight.
Most of the Vixens' bench were able to get some court time to celebrate in the large margin. Wendy Jones (nee Jacobson) played her first game for the Vixens since a season-ending injury at the start of 2009.
This was the Vixens' best performance against the Fever in three seasons of the ANZ Championship, normally the games are a lot more closer.
The only concern for the Vixens was the loss of centre Natasha Chokljat in the final quarter due to a leg injury.
With a fine performance right across the court, it was hard to pick any standout players for the Vixens. The young Fever side just couldn't compete against the more experienced side.
The Vixens retain their number one spot, with the NSW Swifts the only other team in the ANZ Championship to have a perfect winning record so far this year.
Swifts have an easier match next week, coming up against the Central Pulse, but Vixens should still win their away game against Canterbury Tactix.
