Round 2: Vixens vs Firebirds
March 27th 2010 12:56
The match-up between the Melbourne Vixens and the Queensland Firebirds should be the game of the round with these two teams expected to make the top four this season.
Unfortunately, viewers have to wait until night time to be able to watch the game since there will no live coverage on Channel 10 tomorrow due to the television network's pre-existing Formula 1 Grand Prix commitments.
Only announced yesterday, the 7.30pm AEST time slot on Channel ONE will make it hard for younger children to watch this spectacular game. My eight-year-old niece is devastated that she won't be able to watch her favourite team, the Melbourne Vixens play.
So is my mother who doesn't have access to this relatively new channel on her t.v.
You can expect the scorelines to be close with the Queensland Firebirds looking for their first win of the season and the Vixens fighting for back-to-back ANZ Championship titles.
Julie Corletto, who was out because of injury last week, is expected to take the court for the Vixens.
Developing combination Romelda Aiken and Natalie Medhurst will be exciting to watch for the Firebirds but they'll have their work cut out for them, coming up against Bianca Chatfield and Corletto.
The Vixens shooting circle is just as impressive with Caitlin Thwaites and superstar Sharelle McMahon.
The Melbourne side started the 2010 season as they finished the 2009 season; on top and putting out some very impressive netball.
I think they will defeat the Firebirds who are still developing their comibinations in this early part of the season.
