Round 14 Result: Vixens end their worst season ever with a win
June 22nd 2010 14:20
The Melbourne Vixens put an end to their horror season in style in Monday night netty, scoring their first win in a shocking eight weeks.
The defending premiers started the season well, scoring five straight wins, before their season came tumbling down.
Suffering injuries and all-of-a-sudden form loss, the Vixens lost week after week.
But on Monday night, the Vixens were able to take the two points by defeating the Central Pulse in an absolute thriller, 49-48. And this was without their co-captain Sharelle McMahon who was sick and stayed back in Melbourne.
The Pulse beat the 2008 premiers, the NSW Swifts, last year and was hoping for the same luck in 2010. But the Vixens were too good in the end. The Swifts finished ninth in 2009, their worst season, and now the Vixens had a similar season but were at least able to finish in seventh spot.
The Pulse had their best season ever, finishing in ninth position, and therefore not receiving the wooden spoon for the first time.
