Round 14 Result: Tactix get wooden spoon
June 22nd 2010 13:53
For the first time in ANZ Championship, the Canterbury Tactix have been awarded a prize that they hadn't wished for, the wooden spoon.
With no surprises on Sunday afternoon, the Tactix lost to the Northern Mystics, ending the 2010 seasons of both teams.
It was a season that the Tactix would be hoping to forget quickly. After having several players suffering from injuries, the Canterbury side struggled all year.
And it was no different on Sunday, with the final score Mystics 58 Tactix 47, despite the Tactix having a great first half.
It was the most accurate team of the competition, the Mystics, coming up against the least accurate in the Tactix and this definitely showed on Sunday.
This win resulted in the Mystics finishing the ANZ Championship in sixth position, the best ever placing for this team in the three years of the competition.
But it was still a disappointing season for the Mystics as their star-studded line-up failed to deliver on expectations.
Many experts in the game of netball expected Mystics to finish in the top four and reach their first-ever finals series.
