Round 13 Result: Record win for the NSW Swifts
June 12th 2010 10:37
The NSW Swifts set a new record this afternoon in Melbourne, now the only team in the ANZ Championship to have won 12 consecutive games.
The defending premiers, the Melbourne Vixens, held the previous record of 11 games but were unable to stop the Swifts today.
The struggling Vixens put out a great first half of netball, going goal-for-goal against the minor premiers, but struggled yet again to keep the intensity in the second half.
Not long into the first quarter and the Vixens' injury woes continued with
Chelsey Nash forced off court with an ankle injury.
Today marked the 200th game in the national league for NSW Swifts captain Catherine Cox. The only other netballer to achieve such a milestone is netball legend, Sharelle McMahon, who is the co-captain of the Vixens and the Australian Diamonds captain.
Most of the bench players for the Swifts took the court against the Vixens, who suffered their seventh consecutive loss.
The final score was Swifts 58 Vixens 46.
