Round 13 Preview: Firebirds vs Tactix
June 12th 2010 09:41
The Firebirds/Tactix clash on Monday night is more about by how many than who will win the match.
The Tactix have had their worst season ever and have a real possibility of receiving the wooden spoon. They have suffered a lot of injuries this year, like the Melbourne Vixens, and have a hard game against the improving Queensland Firebirds in Queensland on Monday.
You would be safe to say that the Firebirds have the game under their belt but need a big margin to keep their finals hopes alive.
They are currently in fifth spot, a clear two points behind the Southern Steel and the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic. But the Firebirds have an easier run into the finals series with the Steel coming up against the Northern Mystics on Monday night then the undefeated NSW Swifts next weekend.
The Magic have the Adelaide Thunderbirds in round 14.
So, the Firebirds will need a big win against the Tactix, and then the West Coast Fever next weekend to have any chance of making their first ever ANZ Championship finals series.
