Round 12 Preview: Vixens vs Thunderbirds
June 4th 2010 09:52
The Melbourne Vixens have attracted the largest ever home and away season crowd to Hisense Arena for their huge clash against the Adelaide Thunderbirds this Sunday.
Prior to the game, the successful Netball's Festival of Stars will be played with Liz Ellis' Holden Cruze National Breast Cancer Foundation team hoping for revenge against Luke Darcy's MARS Red beyondblue team, who won the inaugural festival last year.
There will be a sell-out crowd of about 9500 people at Hisense Arena on Sunday. This smashes the previous record of 6928, which was set when the Vixens took on the NSW Swifts at Acer Arena just five weeks ago.
Sunday's clash is a must-win for the Melbourne Vixens, who after a dream start to 2010 is now experiencing their worst season ever.
It is also a replay of the grand final last year, when the Vixens took out the 2009 title.
The Vixens are coming off a horror five-game straight loss and will be hoping to be able to turn around their season in front of a massive home crowd.
They have a mathematical chance of making the finals but they must win every game in the last three rounds.
However, the Thunderbirds will be hoping to improve on their final two seasons and finish in second spot.
This will give them two chances to make the grand final.
