Round 11 Result: Is Mystics finals campaign now over?
May 29th 2010 05:39
What a game! Either the NSW Swifts or the Northern Mystics could have taken the win this afternoon in Auckland; there was plenty of determination and passion, and for the first time this season a player was sent off the court.
Mystics shooter Maria Tutaia was sent off the court in the final quarter for consistent breaking.
The game had plenty of penalties and turnover ball but the Mystics gave the Swifts the win with too many basic mistakes.
The Swifts got off to the early lead in the first quarter, leading 17-11 at the first break. The Mystics fought back in the second, even taking the lead over the undefeated Sydney side.
But the third quarter pulled all hope for the Mystics taking the win when they were restricted to about seven goals.
The Mystics came back in the final quarter but it was too late with the Swifts taking the win 54-48.
Impressive on court were Susan Pratley, Sonia Mkoloma and Rebecca Bulley for the Swifts and Cathrine Latu and Temepara George for the home side.
It will be difficult for the Mystics to make their first finals series now and must win every game for the rest of the home and away season to have a slightest chance.
