Round 11 Result: Firebirds back into finals contention
May 31st 2010 12:50
The upset win by the Queensland Firebirds over the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic tonight has added fire to their hopes of making their first ever finals appearance.
Although the Magic kept fighting back, particularly with Laura Langman, having another fine game, the Firebirds were always in control of the match.
This is Magic's second consecutive loss, after their defeat last weekend at the hands of the Southern Steel. The last two weeks' surprise losses from the Magic have helped their opposition into finals contention.
It was an impressive display by all seven Firebirds, taking the match 55-54.
However, in the dying minutes, Sarah Wall was forced off court with an injury, which would be a big blow for the Firebirds' finals campaign if she is unable to play next weekend.
