Round 11 Preview: Steel vs Vixens
May 28th 2010 11:39
All the cards are stacked in the Southern Steel's favour; they are coming off a huge upset over the Magic last weekend, they have the huge home ground advantage, which the Southerners are known for their passion for the Steel, and they know the Melbourne Vixens have lost their fourth straight game and are without key defender Julie Corletto.
So can the Melbourne Vixens turn their season around and beat the Southern Steel on Sunday?
I think they can. Key midcourter Natasha Chokljat returns to the Vixens line-up this week and her injury started the Vixens' unusual losing streak.
The Steel jumped in the top four last weekend, just ahead of the Vixens.
The Vixens have made the top four in both years of the ANZ Championship, the Steel only once, so the Vixens have the talented squad that knows what they've got to do to turn their season around.
If the Vixens lose on Sunday, they can kiss their finals chances goodbye as they have two more tough matches in consecutive weekends, the undefeated NSW Swifts and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, who are in third position.
It is a must win game for both teams but more so for the Vixens who have a tougher end to the season.
It should be an absolute thriller. Go the mighty Vixens!
