Round 10 Result: Big upset in Monday night netty
May 24th 2010 10:09
The Southern Steel caused an upset tonight beating the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic 52-47 in Invercargill.
This has put the Steel in fourth position, pushing the Melbourne Vixens into fifth spot on percentage. Only the top four go through to the finals.
The Magic have now lost their second game of the season.
The Steel took the early lead and had a great composure right throughout the match as the Magic tried hard to overcome their opponents.
Surprisingly, the Magic's shooting percentages were a little down, in particular Jodi Brown, and the Steel capitalised on this with impressive defense.
The Steel's shooting accuracy was also brilliant, shooting in the 90 per cent's.
The Magic now face the Queensland Firebirds, who have also just come off a loss this weekend, and the Steel will be full of confidence going into their home game next weekend against the Melbourne Vixens.
