Round 10 Preview: Pulse vs Tactix
May 19th 2010 12:45
The Central Pulse vs Canterbury Tactix game will be a real battle as both teams are at threat of receiving the wooden spoon.
The Pulse have been on the bottom of the ladder both years of the ANZ Championship and is currently sitting in this position win no wins this season but the Tactix are just two points/one win ahead of the Pulse.
Only weeks ago, New Zealand commentators were making remarks on whether the Pulse should even be in the ANZ Championship since they have only won one game in three years of competition.
Despite the negative publicity, the Pulse have had two weeks of competitive games, losing by only 12 goals to top New Zealand team the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic, and losing by one lousy goal in an extra time thriller last weekend against the Northern Mystics.
On the other hand, the Tactix have only had one win in 2010 and that was against the Pulse in round one where they only defeated them by six goals with the home ground advantage.
This Saturday's game will be on the Pulse's home turf.
The Tactix have had some huge losses, including last weekend's game against the Magic, who were able to acheive their highest ever score in the ANZ Championship, beating the Canterbury side 72-52.
In round seven, the Tactix lost by 28 goals to the Southern Steel. The Pulse achieved the biggest losing margin in round five when they were thrashed by the Adelaide Thunderbirds 75-40 at home.
Can the Pulse score their first win of the season and just their second victory in three years of competition this Saturday? If they play like they did in the last two weeks, particularly their Monday night effort, they have a huge chance in achieving this goal.
It should definitely be an interesting match and would be great to see Pulse not be wooden spooners this year.
