Round 1 Result: Invercargill crowd gets Steel over the line

The famous Invercargill crowd helped their Southern Steel team over the line with a close match, defeating the improving West Coast Fever 46-44.
Steel have never been beaten by an Australian team at home.
Neck-to-neck right throughout the game, both teams put in an impressive performance with the Southern Steel's experience playing a big part in the win.
Daneka Wipiiti and Australian import Megan Dehn shot well for the Steel whereas the Fever were lacking a quality goal attack to combine well with Caitlin Bassett.
Yound midcourters Madison Browne and Shae Bolton performed well but with a heavy penalty count against the Australian team, the Steel took charge of the match.
At the last blow of the whistle, new mum Wipiiti injured her knee with no further details forthcoming.
