Preliminary Final Preview: Swifts vs Magic
July 4th 2010 04:59
After the NSW Swifts shock loss to the Adelaide Thunderbirds last week, they now must beat the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic to proceed to the grand final.
The Swifts had an unbeaten season until last week and would be devastated if they lose to the Magic today.
The Australians have an amazing win record playing in Australia with the Magic being the only team to ever win an ANZ Championship game on Australian soil. That was a year ago against the West Coast Fever.
With Swifts captain Catherine Cox playing today despite a broken nose and thigh injury, it seems all cards are stacked in favour of the Swifts winning today and ending the season of the Magic.
You can expect once again an all Australian grand final, with the NSW Swifts just replacing the Melbourne Vixens in the final. The Adelaide Thunderbirds will host the grand final for the first time after they thrashed the Swifts last week.
