Captain of both the Australian Netball Diamonds and Melbourne Vixens, Sharelle McMahon, has finshed the decade off in fine form. In 2009, she led her Vixens team to their first ANZ Championship premiership win, and played her 100th Test cap for Australia, joining only two other great netballers, Vicki Wilson and Liz Ellis, to achieve this amazing milestone.
McMahon also took out the Female Athlete of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year awards at the 2009 Victorian Sport Awards.
The Vixens were also named as the Victorian Women's Team of the Year.
Over the past decade, McMahon has a long list of achievements, which shows why she is considered the best netballer in the world. She won gold medals at the 1999 and 2007 Netball World Championships and the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Australia won silver at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and will obviously want to take back the gold medal in this year's Commonwealth Games, capably led by the one and only Sharelle McMahon.
