Diamonds to take on England
January 18th 2010 10:47
England showed they are a developing netball side at the World Netball Series in Machester last year.
Normally in the top three or four in the world, England took it to the world superpowers of netball, Australia (Number 1) and New Zealand (Number 2), in the round robin competition of the World Netball Series.
However, they were unable to continue their winning form in the finals.
The Australian Netball Diamonds will meet England again on their home soil from February 19-23 for a three-game series.
Can England beat Australia? It will be a hard feat despite the Diamonds having five of their senior squad members including captain Sharelle McMahon, Julie Corletto, Catherine Cox, Susan Fuhrmann and Lauren Nourse unavailable for the series.
Australia has plenty of depth with many young, quality players normally sitting on the bench.
This series will give the future of Australian netball a chance to show their skills and abilities and an opportunity to shine in the limelight when hopefully they come away with the series win.
